8 Weeks
July 27th, 2007 Posted 10:52 am
Our little girl is getting bigger now. Yesterday, she showed us how much she’s growing with 2 surprises. (We’ll add the videos I mention in this post to the movie gallery when Paul gets some spare time.)
First, she figured out how to push one of the arms on her play gym in order to make the dangling animals wiggle. She did that for a long time and fortunately I caught it on video so Paul could share in the moment too. What a genius she is! Secondly, and most importantly, she slept over 6 hours straight last night. I woke up right at 6 hours and ran over to the bassinet to make sure she was still breathing once I realized what time it was. I was so shocked, I just kept watching her waiting for her to wake up. She did a few minutes later so I could feed her and then she went right back to sleep but I was too excited to sleep (which is probably why I need a nap right now and it’s only 10:30AM).
Paul’s been working on Bella’s swimming this week-letting her float on her back and getting her used to being in the water during her bathtime each evening. We’re using our big bathtub in the masterbath for this so it’s easy to let her float from one end to the other and really get her legs stretched out. She took to it like a frog-she’s so cute when her little legs start kicking. She laughed and laughed once she realized that floating wasn’t so weird after all. Now she loves it. In honor of her swim coach, I’m taking her to get her picture taken today at her new daycare (she doesn’t start til next week but they said she could participate anyway). They have a photographer in this week working on a beach theme so Bella will be in a pretty pink sundress and will smile really big for Daddy so we can give these to him for his birthday tomorrow. He’ll be 35 and she’s 8 weeks already. Boy, how time flies when you’re as happy and blessed as we are!!

Bella works the play gym
July 26th, 2007 Posted 11:16 am
We’ve been putting Bella in the play gym for a while now and after a bit she seems to get bored with it. I’ll usually shake one of the supports causing her toys to jiggle and that gets her interested again. On this day it appears that she figured out how to shake the toys all by herself.

This was the first time that Bella lifted her head all the way up while on her tummy. Her neck muscles are really starting to kick in.

Whew-7 weeks!
July 20th, 2007 Posted 10:48 pm
We’ve had our bundle of joy for 7 weeks now and it’s so hard to believe how big she’s gotten and how much she’s accomplished. I’ve been preparing the paperwork for placing her in daycare around August 1st and while it’s sad for us, I know this place will be good for her. It gives me the feeling like they’ll truly be an extension of our family and do their best to love on her and help her grow like we do. A friend of mine gave me a ton of clothes today to help send her off to daycare with pants and skirts like a ‘big girl’-they’re so adorable. Now to prepare for the truck load of diapers and wipes we have to send with her…:).
Bella is laughing a little already. She can hold her head up-wobbly, but up, nonetheless. She loves the new play gym she received from a gift card someone gave her. The little toys dangling over her head truly keep her attention and all the things that make noise and crinkle are helping to continue developing her motorskills. She recognizes her Daddy and I by giving us a big smile when we start talking to her. She loves to talk too. Her favorite things in order of her priority: sleep, eat, poop, laugh and talk! Her eating and sleeping schedules aren’t perfect yet but we continue to work with her on that. We’ll get there eventually but I’m not gonna stress over it as long as she’s happy and healthy.
Great news! My employer agreed to allow me to work from home once I go back on August 6th and it may turn out to be permanent if all goes well. That means I’ll be just a few minutes away from her daycare and I won’t have that huge commute time away from her like I was dreading. Thanks to those who were praying for me in that regard. Enjoy the addt’l photos Paul will be posting. I hope you all get as many laughs from viewing them as we had shooting them.

First time Bella grabbed the handle
July 18th, 2007 Posted 11:39 am
Bella’s been trying to grab the pull handles on her chair for a couple weeks. This is the first time she has gotten her hand/eye coordination to the point where she grabbed the handle on purpose instead of by accident.
