Date weekend

Paul and I are in Richmond VA right now at the annual meeting/banquet for my work. Bella is probably sound asleep right now after a hard day at play with her relatives. Aunt Misty, Aunt Elizabeth and Cousin Mark were kind enough to come up from FL Thursday night to babysit Bella while Paul and I were out of town. I’m nervous that they won’t be able to find where I hid the food or get lost if they out on the town somewhere. Misty thinks I’m nervous about leaving her with them but that’s the farthest thing from my mind right now. We both know that Bella is safe and will have a very happy time loving on her relatives this weekend. If anything, I’m sad because I miss Bella and I know she’ll be sad when they leave on Sunday evening when we return home. Paul and I can have a good time here knowing that she’s in great hands.
When we left Friday morning, she had warmed up to Sissy Liz and was coloring with her and talking up a storm. She was making noises and funny faces with Aunt Misty and of course, she still adores her cousin Mark and wants to be around him whenever she can. She was still awake on Thursday evening when they arrived so we poked our heads out the front door to say hello (it was about 15 degrees outside so it was real quick). In just the brief time we were out there, she had recognized who had arrived, got this big smile all over her face and shouted, ‘Mosh’ as loud as she could strain her little voice. When we came back inside and watched them climb the basement stairs to us, when she saw Little Mark start up the stairs, she immediately threw out her hands and wanted him to hold her. It is sweet to see her latch onto someone like that.
Mommy and Daddy love you Baby and miss you tons! It nice to hear your voice on the phone today, even if all you ‘said was ‘tullor’ with your crayons in hand, ‘nack’ when you were snacking after your nap, and ‘hello’ when you heard Mama’s voice. Daddy enjoyed seeing you on Skype last night. He said your face lit up when you saw him on the computer screen too. Goodnight Sweetheart and sleep tight! We’ll be home in 2 days. Many kisses and sweet hugs! (By the way, I can’t remember her word for hugs but she can say something that sounds like it–she has also started to ask to say prayers. She’ll hold our hands, bow her head and say ‘men?’ She will say little words that we don’t understand while we’re praying and then finish with a loud ‘Men!’ to let us know she’s done-sweet, huh?)

New teeth

I know I’m a bad mother but last week I noticed her tooth #9 coming in-actually had already broken thru the gums and she never acted up a bit. This tooth was one of her molars on her upper right hand side jaw. Then just last night as I was brushing her teeth before bedtime, I noticed the same tooth on the left side of her upper jaw had come thru also. I figured I should go ahead and make a note of it before I get too far behind. I’m not sure if teeth speed up about now or if her teeth are simply trying to catch up with the other teeth.

Picture of the Month – December, 2008

What began as the Picture of the Day morphed into the Picture of the Week and now after about a year becomes The Picture of the Month!
I guess the raw truth of the matter would be that as Bella gets older we’ve been taking fewer and fewer pictures of her in a given period since her change in appearance/development has slowed down. So to make this category a little more relevant, we are going to try to highlight what we think is the best picture taken during the entire month.
So here we go, December’s Picture of the Month:
