Bella's Awesome!

Bella is practically picking up new words every day.  The other day I accidentally called her privates a ‘pooky’ and she picked right up on that and didn’t stop saying it for at least 5 minutes.  Now she still says it when I take her diaper off but not every time, fortunately.  Yesterday, I picked her up from daycare and as I was putting her in the car, I mentioned what an awesome day it was.  She repeated ‘awesome’ several times while I was buckling her up and then we started calling everything awesome all the way home-Daddy’s awesome!  Bear’s awesome!  Bella’s awesome!  Mama’s awesome!  She even said Water awesome! when we rode over the lake.  Then later on at dinner at a local Mexican place, she wanted to play ‘pita-boo’ with everyone she saw-that is Peek-a-boo for those that need the translation.

I guess because Bella is such a dear but when a lady at church asked me if I’d be interested in taking over the 2yr olds’ Sunday school class, I told her we’d pray about it.  Paul and I really feel that this is something we need to do and would love getting to be with those kids every Sunday and since there’s also an opening for an assistant, Paul wanted to fill that position as well.  We’re going to visit their class this Sunday to see what it’s like and then we’ll finalize our decision.  The old teacher moves to GA end of April so we should get moving right along if we’re going to do this.  Then in June, Bella would move to our class and we’ll all get to be together-that’s awesome!

Bella’s having one of her molars come in on the bottom left side of her mouth.  Those molars sure do come in slowly but she’s been doing great with hers.  She was fussy at school today but I think she didn’t sleep well.  I heard her wrustling around early this morning but when I checked on her before I left for work, she had fallen back to sleep.  I had a really bad dream about killing a man that molested her at daycare-so I didn’t sleep much toward the last part of the night either.  Maybe she was feeling my pain.  It is wonderful how God protects us and keeps his children safe from harm, even the little ones.  That reminds me, I held Bella in a ‘baby rocking’ position tonight and she laid on my chest very still while we started our night prayers.  Before I even started, she would close her eyes and say something that sounded like Jesus.  Then when I started into the prayer, she would help remind me who to bless.  I started with bless Mama, bless Daddy, and she added before I could say, Gammy, Papa, Gammy, Gammy, Papa, Daddy.  Then once we had gone thru asking for blessings, she kept repeating sleep over and over.  I remembered that we always ask Jesus to give her a good night sleep so we ended with that, said Amen and we were ready for kisses and for bed.  No peep from her since then.  We are very blessed to have such a wonderful baby girl.

What a great Valentine's weekend

Where do I begin.  Bella is always such a delight, it’s hard to capture all the moments in this blog.  No one ever reads it but me and Bella’s Daddy but it’d be nice if I could remember to take the time to post her moments more often.

Thursday morning, Bella woke up early so I threw my make-up in a bag, ran downstairs and dressed her for her Valentine’s Day party at school.  She was adorable in her pink outfit with blue jeans and pink felt beret.  We brushed our teeth together with Daddy and had a great few minutes together before I headed off to work.  I gave her the sequined red purse we bought her right before I left for work.  She thinks it’s great to have her own purse-of course, she’s tried to eat every part of the purse.  The purse has a see-thru heart on the front so she also thinks it’s a camera-what an imagination!

Friday night, Paul and I took her out to Kabuto’s.  Now she’s never been to an hibachi grill show before so I was a littled scared but I also know she’s an obedient girl who trusts her parents (and can be fearless at times too) so I figured if it went well, it would be a great Valentine’s story down the road.  The couple who sat next to us were young so I warned them that Bella had never been to this sort of show before so if she freaked out, that was why.  There were very understanding and very quickly began to play with Bella and enjoyed how sweet she is.  Bella saw the active chefs around us at the other tables and was intrigued by all the cutting, tossing, and fire going on around her.  No fear, just interest.

All the chefs played with her as they passed our tables-Bella is so sweet and adorable, folks just can’t resist getting to know her.   Anyway, our chef finally arrived and Bella watched him closely as he began cooking.  She ate her avocado slices and enjoyed every bit of food we gave her-shrimp, noodles, rice, steak, onions, zuccini, and broccoli.  By the way, did I mention that Paul is so glad to finally have someone around to eat his veggies for him?  He asked the other day why we didn’t have kids sooner.  This was said while he was taking the carrots and zuccini off his plate and giving it to Bella because she wanted more veggies.  He’s a nut, isn’t he? Anyway, the show continued and finally got to the fire part.  The first display of fire was small-I think the chef was testing Bella.  She just kept watching-no real reaction other than intrigue.  The last display was the big one that makes your face turn away because the heat is so intense but cool all at the same time.   Bella’s eyes got really big, she began to smile and turned to Paul and said ‘hot’ in a whisper, then when it was over, she began to giggle really loud.  Everyone loved it and we were so proud of our little girl of being such a trooper.

We were both really glad we took her and on the way home, all of us stuffed to the gills and ready for sleepy time, I remembered a time at least 5 years ago when we used to sit at hibachi grills and look at the kids that whined and screamed and hollared every time the fire on the grill went off.  We would always say to each other that ‘our kids won’t be like that – that kid is such a wuss!’.  I’m happy to say that our kid ain’t no wuss-she’s a tough little bear, eats like a pig but it still the sweetest and most beautiful baby girl in this world.

We went out to breakfast together this morning because Bella woke up at 6AM and wouldn’t go back to sleep-unusual for her.  We got dressed and went out and all the folks around us really enjoyed Bella’s company.  We’ve been trying to work with her on people’s names-Luke, Victoria, Aunt Shasta, Aunt Misty, Little Mark, Big Mark, etc.  Paul’s parents are coming in next week to visit so I’ve also been focusing on Grandma and Grandpa as well.  So far these names are coming out like ‘Gammy’ and ‘Papa’.  I hope they like that!  So at the restaurant, any time she saw a man with gray hair, she’d say ‘Papa’, it was really funny.  Paul tried some of my shrimp and grits and still regrets it now.  They were really good but he hated them.

Library time came after that with story time and checking out some books.  Home after that and more play time followed.  After a few minutes of playing, I realized it was lunch time so I quickly warmed up some pizza for her and gave her some juice.  She began eating the pieces I cut up for her and ate quietly so I began cleaning up the kitchen.  I was arguing with Paul over something and wasn’t even paying attention to Bella.  When I realized how quiet she was being, I glanced over at her chair and she had both hands in her food, her head leaned back into the chair and was a split second away from falling into a very deep sleep.  I whispered to Paul so he could see-we both felt so sorry for her, we forgot to get it on film.  I quickly cleaned her up and got her to bed after a new diaper and a little rocking with Mama.

After a 3 hour nap, Bella played with Tripp next door (we won’t talk about how their fathers got distracted and let both kids walkup our steep driveway and climb up the front steps to our deck by themselves).  After they came back from the neighbor’s house, we let Bella open up her Valentine’s bag from school today and eat as much candy/snacks as she wanted.  Her favorite was the gummy bears.  We went to church after we had baths/showers and attended the Valentine’s banquet.  Bella had more pizza and M&M’s.  We just knew she’d have a rough time sleeping but after playtime with us, brushing her teeth, prayers, a book and a little cuddle time craddled in Mama’s arms, she’s out like a light-no troubles.  Once again, she has proven that we are blessed to have such a wonderful daughter that now knows how to say ‘love you Mama’ and ‘love you Daddy’.  We just melt when she says it.  Night-night Bella, sweet dreams.
