Tooting
April 21st, 2009 Posted 3:03 pm
No, I didn’t misspell the title-we’re not talking about Teething, we’re really talking about Tooting (farting, pooting, flatulation, whatever your family calls it). Of course, Bella’s been tooting since she was a baby. Sometimes it doesn’t smell but most of the time, it’s a natural indicator of who her father is-stinky Paul.
Last night, we were rolling around on the floor with her trying to conduct diaper time and get her into some PJ’s. In the middle of a roll, Bella tooted. I made a big deal like it stank which made her laugh and then she tooted again. I didn’t think anything of it til she started giggling first. Then she tooted a 3rd time and it hit us that she was doing it intentionally. Silly girl was tooting in our faces on purpose and laughing about it. She thought it was so much fun that she pushed out all she had-then tried it again a few minutes later when she had time to build up some more gas.
Paul and I were in wonder that she could control such a thing so early on but then to use it against us-where has all the sweetness gone:)? I love you stinky Paul and stinky Bella!

Sweetness abounds
April 13th, 2009 Posted 10:09 pm
When we got home today, Paul and I weren’t feeling that well but Bella of course is running on all cylinders. She is insistent upon getting the lipgloss from my purse as soon as we get inside the house. I give her the one she normally plays with and she emphatically replies ‘No, back’ meaning that wasn’t the lipgloss she was referring to. I knew she wanted the shiny pink one but it makes such a mess, I never let her use it. We went back and forth several times before I finally sighed, knelt on the floor and starting looking for that one. I think she could tell I was frustrated with her because she moved closer to my side and whispered ‘Hi Mama’. When I looked into her face, she began to give me a really wide smile as if to say ‘doesn’t my smile make everything alright again’, which of course it did. I about broke into tears right then but instead I just gave her a big hug and kiss and began laughing at how sweet and silly she can be at just the right moment. I told Paul later on and his eyes teared up too just thinking about what a dear sweet child she is-all the while she’s making a huge mess with the pink shiny lip gloss of Mama’s:)…Oh well.

Easter 2009-first real Easter for Bella, our Princess
April 12th, 2009 Posted 10:09 pm
I couldn’t wait to get home from the mountains, back in our own beds, but mainly because we had put together Bella’s Easter basket and had a beautiful Easter dress all ready for her for Sunday. We all awoke around 7:30 which gave us some time to play before getting ready for church. Paul brought her upstairs and I tried to trick her into going back downstairs so I could take the basket and put it outside the front door for her to find but she found it anyway and wanted to tear into it immediately. After squealing at how pretty everything was, she pulled out the raspberry chocolate egg first, handed it to me and asked ‘open dis?’. She waited patiently while I opened it and then she pulled it out of the wrapper and had one bite, laid it on my pajama-clad leg for safe-keeping and pulled out the next item, Peeps. We had to open those as well but only after she admired the 3 beautiful yellow marshallow chicks thru the plastic with a whispered ‘woooow’.
There was one Peep for her, she took one out for Mama and the last one belonged to Daddy. She thoroughly enjoyed the card we gave her that had a spring loaded bunny inside it but more importantly, the stickers that were also inside that began showing up in the places you’d least suspect them (like on your blouse right over your boob right before you walk into church). The Hand Hand Fingers Thumb little book I found for her and the monkey hand puppet were a huge hit. She almost has the Dum Ditty Dum Ditty Dum Dum Dum down pat. Still having trouble holding her fingers down while holding out her thumb but we’re working on it. She’s likes the part about ‘rings on fingers, rings on thumbs’ since she gets to wear Mama’s pretty purple ring when we read that part-although she hates to give the ring back to Mama when we move onto the next part of the book.
The white and pink dress we found at the flea market in Commerce with Lendy (see prior post about visit with The Treasures out in the country) was a huge hit with Bella but also everyone that saw her. The dress was white, sleeveless with fuschia roses pinned to the front and a wide long sash for a belt of the same material and color. They threw in a pair of socks so I just had to find some pretty white shoes to match-couldn’t find a good pair in her size but what I found worked out alright. Her Easter basket was purple with a matching tutu around the basket itself-more femine, the better, right?
We have no real good pics of me and her but we have some goods ones of she and Paul and an absolutely adorable one of her in the foyer at church in front of the Easter lillies. Her feet are crossed, she has a perfect grin on her face and is holding her new pink Bible I let her take with her for the first time (which she was very gentle with the entire time-didn’t lose it or mistreat it the entire time she had it-which was a long time for a 2 year old). Those will probably be emailed to the family for your enjoyment as well. Egg hunting is a whole other story…
