Visit Uncle John
May 25th, 2009 Posted 8:04 pm
We visited Paul’s Uncle John (Bella’s great uncle) in Hertford NC this weekend where we toured the coast of northern NC and had a mini birthday party for Bella also. Hertford is where he’s lived for the past 10 or so years on and off but is now his permanent residence. There’s a nice little house on Holiday island where the property has direct access to an inlet that goes out to the Albemarle Sound-cute little neighborhood right next to Albemarle Plantation.
Bella didn’t want to get inside his boat or the water but when Uncle John drove us around, she was very content to sit in the cab with the me during the drive and was a sweetheart about being cooped up for hours on end during the tour of the island on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday night was the mini party. Uncle John had bought her a small cake, milar balloon and a card (with money in it-way too much by the way but it went into her bank to help her pay for something in the future-haven’t decided what). She had such a blast with the icing and balloon and such that she didn’t want to leave.
Uncle John as very thoughtful during our stay with him and we hope to get back real soon.
We got to visit with Aunt Dora and her family in Chesapeake while we were up there. We spent several hours visiting with the family while Bela played with the other kids at Chik-fil-A and Jedediah. When we first arrived, Bella was napping but we had practiced all weekend about who we would go see. As we got out of the car, she woke up and was still groggy by the time we went inside. We found Dora and began hugging, Bella immediately reached out her arms and smiled while saying ‘Aunt Dora’. It was so sweet!

Nothing sweeter
May 5th, 2009 Posted 9:16 pm
This morning, Bella woke up about 5am whimpering and wouldn’t go back to sleep. Paul went down to ck on her and she kept saying ‘find mama’. He brought her upstairs with her blanket where she fell back to sleep after greeting me with a smile and a kiss in the dark. When I got up an hour later to take a shower, I shut the bathroom door behind me to shut out the noise and light from disturbing them in bed. In the middle of the shower, I see something moving in the bathroom so I slowly open up the door to find my baby standing there holding her blanket with sleepy eyes and bed head. Before I could say anything, she looked up at me with a big beautiful smile and exclaimed ‘mornin’ mama’. What did I say? Nothing sweeter in this world than a morning greeting like that.

This too shall pass…

For some reason, last Thursday night, Bella began a new thing. She doesn’t want to have diaper time on the diaper table-she screams and rolls around saying she wants to lay down on the floor. While no one I’ve spoken to can figure out what might have caused it, some think she’s afraid of heights. I’m not completely convinced but we’ll work thru this. It is pressuring us to start looking into potty training though…
