So I was just picking up my computer to note a few things about Bella’s progress and some sweet stories. By the time my computer booted up, Bella came running to me with an odd smile on her face and her kid scissors in her hand. My first thought was ‘you know what’ but instead of jumping to conclusions, I asked her what was going on. She smirkly replied, ’nuffin’. To which I continued asking what did you do. Finally, I caught a glimpse of some loose hair hanging on her shoulders. My heart stopped beating and I couldn’t breathe for a few seconds. I couldn’t tell if it was anger or hurt (not sure why though). I asked Paul to handle the punishment on this one because I was not able to think clearly but she needed a ‘talkin to’ now versus waiting til I calmed down. He handled it beautifully. Her excuse was wanting her hair out of her eyes. After he talked with her a bit more, he got a ponytail holder and pulled her hair back. When she walked back into the room to see me, I realized she had cut off a lot more than I initially found. She wouldn’t say where she had committed this atrocity but following the trail of red hair, found she at least did it in the bathroom in front of the mirror. However, my heart stopped again when Paul pointed out the large pile of beautiful red locks on the top of the trash. At this point, all we can do is talk in a low tone to her reminding her of how bad this was. Neither one of us know exactly how to handle it but you can tell each of us are so astonished by this act that we are clueless as to whether or not we spank her, send her to her room or just let it lie hoping it won’t happen again. ‘But she’s only 3′ keeps running thru my head in wonderment…
Anyone who knows me has probably had to view the Mad TV clip from YouTube about the guy (Darrell) in a theatre trying to hook up with a girl (Yvonne). He eventually just start asking for her number again and again by asking for it with one of the funniest inflections and matching humorous expressions you’ll ever find. Of course, I must repeat clips from that video at every opportunity.
I was opening up a fortune cookie for Bella the other day in the car and in her impatience, Bella asked ‘Mama, can I have it now?’. I replied ‘not yet’. Then she proceeded a barrage of ‘can I have it? can I have it? can I have it?’ just like in the video and when I looked back at her to find out if she was kidding, we both start giggling-now it’s both our games to play.
For the day after Thanksgiving, we drove to Powder Springs to see Carla and her kids. LaVona was also there so we all had a great time together with Candice, Christy and Clay with Kyle, Mike and Brantley as well. Brantley is 1 year older than Bella but they got along together very well-surprisingly since they are both ‘only’ children.
After spending several hours with Brantley (of course, tooting and pooping was a topic of almost every conversation of this boy cousin of hers), we had to stop by a QT (QuickTrip for those that don’t live in GA) for a pitstop for the children. Bella had heard Brantley use the terms ‘going #1 and going #2′ several times. When we stopped at the QT, she told me that we would probably beat Brantley back to the car because he said he had to go 2 times and she only needed to go 1 time. What a crazy way to interpret the references of #1 and #2 but she is right, #2 normally does take longer:).
Bella hopped in the car one day after school about 2 weeks ago and began telling me about her day. She said ‘Mama see. I didn’t get a sticker today’. I asked her why not to which she replied ‘Well Mama, I didn’t perpissertate in Spanish today’.
Ever since then, we do our best to encourage more ‘perpissertation’ from Bella and less shyness. We’ll see how long that pronunciation lasts before someone corrects her but it won’t be Mom or Dad anytime soon:).
I love how Bella loves to watch Dora the Explorer and Diego. For some reason, she interacts more with Diego than Dora but nonetheless, cute. This morning, Paul had started an episode of Diego and I was only half listening as we were getting ready for church. The part came where Diego needed his Rescue Pack so he said in Spanish ‘activata’ (not sure on that spelling) to which Bella repeated emphatically ‘a-beaver-tate’. I thought I was gonna fall on the floor laughing. Bella has such confidence that she can say any word that she had no quams about attempting this one. Paul did correct her but then thankfully she went right back to the old way.

Bella had a homework project to find interesting things outdoors. We found a snail in our flower garden and to my surprise Bella wanted to hold it. The snail seemed to like her a lot. She especially liked the slime trail it left behind.
We have a lot of woods around our house and therefore have exposure to bugs, to include spiders. Bella is familiar with spiderwebs but doesn’t get too freaked out by them.
We were riding to Walmart and she piped up from the back and said ‘Momma I got spider webs between my toes but just a little bit’. I whipped around to see what she had discovered and noticed she was holding toe jam from her socks that she had retrieved from her toes.
White sock fuzz does look a lot like spider webs.
When we finished laughing about that, we were pulling into the parking lot when she sighed and said ‘I love going to Walmart’.
08/10/10 – Bella has been taking swim lessons at the Y. Today was the first time she swam on her own (happens about the 1:25 mark). She’ll be trying out for the Olympics any day now!
We tend to check on how Bella’s sleeping from time to time to make sure she hasn’t fallen out of bed or needs covering up, whatever.
I go to look in her room and find that she has absolutely destroyed it and has basically made herself a nest to go to sleep on the floor. I was torn between ‘aaaaah, that’s cute’ and ‘what have you done!?!?’
